Baggin’s

This year marks the 25TH ANNIVERSARY of Baggin’s - Tucson’s most successful gourmet sandwich shop!

With a dream and a sense of adventure, the idea for Baggin’s was born when Cheree and Jay Garrett took a road trip on their motorcycle from Seattle to Tucson in the spring of 1984. It was love at first site – they went home to pack up and quickly returned to make Tucson their new home. With very little money but a lot of enthusiasm, they opened a cozy little sandwich shop with just three tables on East Pima Street. That first day they sold 7 Baggin’s gourmet sandwiches and never looked back. Over the next few years, word of mouth spread about those fabulous sandwiches and signature chocolate chip cookies. Cheree even gave out cookies at Spring Training games to help spread the word. The rest as they say, is history. Now, with 9 locations all over Tucson, we prepare roughly 3,000 sandwiches a day! The options are many. All Baggin’s locations have great dining areas, offer free lunch delivery, and catering for any special occasion for groups of all sizes.

Part of Baggin’s success is the clever “sack lunch” (or “satisfaction in the sack”) idea. Every sandwich and side order comes in a brown bag that includes that famous (guilt free) chocolate chip cookie! All of Baggin’s food is made fresh (without preservatives) from scratch each day. It is a fresh wholesome lunch, just like mom used to make. Over the years the menu has grown to include hot sandwiches, salads, unique side dishes and more, but to those loyalists, the great originals like the Unforgettable, the Albuquerque Turkey and the Sundown are still going strong.

In 2002, the “Baggin’s family” introduced a western themed grill – HIFALUTIN – on Tucson’s northwest side. The fun atmosphere, fabulous menu, full bar, patio, and welcoming dining room earned it the Tucson Lifestyle Culinary Award for Best New Restaurant of the Year in its first year.
